We all hear the health advice to trade out our white grains for better versions, but what are the different kinds of grains that are out there? Here is a list of the 5 most popular healthy grains:

 

Barley: a high-fiber cereal grain widely used in soups and stews

 

Brown Rice: a whole grain rice with a nutty flavor. It is more nutritious than white rice.

 

Buckwheat: a grain-like seed used to make flour and granola (raw buckwheat is used for making granola). It is naturally gluten-free.

 

Bulger: a cereal food made from the groats (hulled kernels of cereal grains) of several different wheat species, most often from durum wheat. Commonly used in European, Middle Eastern, and Indian cooking.


Oatmeal: 
ground oat groats that can be found in various forms, such as ground oats, steel-cut oats, crushed oats, and rolled oats. Commonly used in cooking and baking from cookies to breads and a variety of breakfast items.
