It was a phenomenal week for Healthy Little Cooks! Braxton Young, one of our very own Healthy Little Cooks, attended the Kid’s State Dinner at the White House on Friday, July 10 to celebrate his winning recipe Quinoa Crusted Spinach Tofu Pie. Braxton’s desire to show kids with food allergies that they can eat healthy won him a spot among 55 young chefs who won the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, a nationwide recipe challenge for kids that promotes cooking and healthy eating.
The Kid’s State Dinner was truly an amazing experience for Braxton. The special lunch was created featuring winning recipes from kids around the United States. After dining with the First Lady, Michelle Obama (and getting a surprise visit from President Obama) the kids toured the White House Kitchen Garden.
Braxton has followed a gluten-free diet after being diagnosed with a nut and dairy allergy at a young age. Although Braxton is only 8 years old, he is an inspiration to all kids and another example of why healthy eating is so awesome!! Healthy Little Cooks is very proud of Braxton and all the other kids working hard in the kitchen to become Healthy Food Ambassadors.
